Sangit's father died in a road accident. While grieving her husband's death, Sangit's mother found herself in the role of a sole provider for herself and her little children. Because of her lack of education, Sangit's mother had to work from early in the morning till late at night for very low wages. Despite all of her hard work, she was not able to earn enough money to support the family. While their mother was at work, Sangit and her olderr sister were left alone and locked in the house all day long. It was very hard for Sangit's mother to properly care for the children, so she had to make the difficult decision to bring Sangit to Bethlehem Children Home. Sangit has been at Bethlehem Children Home for seven years, and she is currently studying in the fourth grade. Sangit is an excellent student who loves dance and music.

Sangeeta is studying in the fourth grade at St. Mary School in New Delhi, India.
