Mahima Shiksha Kendra

The schools run by Good News Centre for the slum children are known as “Mahima Shiksha Kendra,” which translates as the Glorious Education Centres. Our schools provide education from first through third grade to about 200 children every day. In addition, we serve a nutritional lunch to all of our students to encourage them to come to school instead of going to pick rags or do petty jobs to feed themselves. Our schools are designed to not only provide excellent general education, but also strive to lay a firm spiritual and moral foundation in the hearts of all of our students. Furthermore, we create an environment of fun and celebration, where the children are encouraged to explore and develop their skills and talents.

After the children graduate from our schools, we assist them with getting admitted into one of the government schools to further their education.  We provide all books, school supplies and uniforms for the children and for their studies.

The schools are functioning at the following places with an average of 50 children in each school.

  1. Kirbi Place – started in 2002
  2. Mahavir Enclave – started in 2004
  3. Sanjay Camp – started in 2007
